About Gros Ventre Campground

Gros Ventre (pronounced ‘grow-vont’), means “big belly” in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground—surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains—is truly magnificent! The campground’s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre’s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance.The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October.

This is the premier campground in the Jackson Hole area. The Ranger talks are excellent and always see wildlife. This trip I saw a Badger, Deer and Moose.

Campsite was perfect for our tent and I saw complaints about loud generators and loud planes and people coming back from Jackson late and we never had any problems with those things at all. Staff was better than perfect and very very very friendly. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here.

The campsite is well managed and closed to all the places that we planned to visit. We were at the river banks by the campsite three times to see wild animals and it’s not disappointed. All other campers were very nice and respectful to the camp rules. Will definitely go again.

Very convenient to the southern end of the Tetons. Jenny Lake, Jackson, Elk Refige and the airport all nearby. The nightly ranger program were all excellent. The bathrooms and dishwashing area are very clean. Very friendly team there to welcome and assist. Ice & firewood available. The cherry on top is all the moose around the area and the Gros Ventre river.

Super clean, quiet, good space & open views. We were so fortunate to hear the wolves howl at dusk & to wake up to 3 bull mooses grazing right next to our RV at dawn. Simply amazing!

We had a wonderful time at Gros Ventre campground. The check in process was smooth and the staff extremely helpful. Restrooms were cleaned daily and were spotless. Having two bull moose, plus a cow moose with her baby walk through camp was the icing on the cake. Fantastic experience!

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
