About Gros Ventre Campground

Gros Ventre (pronounced ‘grow-vont’), means “big belly” in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground—surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains—is truly magnificent! The campground’s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre’s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance.The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October.

Clean overall, friendly staff, beautiful location, nice ranger talk, saw moose behind restrooms, was able to stop along road on way into campground to fish and saw moose there too, easy to check in and out. Restrooms clean and nice camping area with picnic table and fire pit on our site. Would definitely stay again!

Gros Ventre is a beautiful campground, close but not too close to the sites. The sites are nice and large (we were on the D loop). We saw moose on multiple occasion along the river.

The hosts and workers are great and they had ranger programs every night at the amphitheatre.

The campground loop we stayed in was small and felt very private. Our site was the last one at the end of the loop just before the group sites and we were very pleased overall. Bathrooms were very clean and the dishwashing station was a nice feature. Campground hosts and registration were outstanding.

This was our first camping spot in a string of spots throughout the following week and this was such a wonderful experience to start us off. Gary greeted us and was so kind and welcoming and got us all set right away. The grounds were and bathrooms were clean. The camp spot was comfortable. All was perfect. Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
