There are gas lights in the cabin, but they are very dim so it was very helpful to have a headlamp. It was very cozy and comfortable! Such a beautiful setting!

About La Barge Guard Station
Historic La Barge Guard Station is located 87 mi north of Kemmerer, Wyoming in the Hams Fork Area of Bridger-Teton National Forest. The cabin is situated in beautiful La Barge Meadow, among vibrant summer wildflowers at the base of pine-covered Commissary Ridge.
Constructed in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), the rustic cabin welcomes guests for sightseeing, hiking, fishing and more. Pets and horses are allowed at the cabin.

This was the third time at the LaBarge Guard Station cabin this year. We were finally able to get the heater to work this time but the other two times no matter how we tried we just couldn't get tom work! The refrigerator hasn't work in two years! They need to replace it!! We enjoyed our trip very much this time but the Forest Service that takes care of it needs to do better up keep!! The fence around the cabin needs to be repaired big time or completely replaced!

It was nice to have the cabin to go back to and have to stay in. However, the fridge was not working as it had a leak causing carbon monoxide back in March of this year. Nothing was said about the leak in any communication which put us into a bit of a bind as we were planning on it working when we got there. A leak still not being fixed from March of this year seems a bit too long on the forest services part without getting it fixed. Overall though it is a beautiful spot to be!

Arrival & departure
- A combination is needed for entrance, sent via email after reservation.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Vehicles & parking
- Summer access is via gravel/dirt roads, high clearance vehicles recommended; OHVs need Wyoming State Registration year-round.
- Winter access is limited to snowmobiles on a specific trail.
Utilities
- Water is not available during winter.
Wildlife & food storage
- Horses should be watered from the creek, and certified weed-free hay is required.
Pets
- Pets are allowed but must be cleaned up after, not left unattended, and must not disturb wildlife.
Safety & rules
- Guests must bring garbage bags as this facility follows a 'pack it in, pack it out' policy.
- Guests must clean the cabin before departure; limited cleaning supplies are provided.
- Smoking is prohibited at this location.
- Bears are common in the area; guests should follow bear safety guidelines.
- Guests should be aware of poisonous chemicals for rodents and should not leave traps set upon departure.
