Our campground host was friendly and available. I love the hosts in the Bighorns, because they are they are there to talk to if you have questions. It seems alot of campground hosts could learn from the hosts in the Bighorns about customer service, as many are gone or not out and about talking to people like Island Park.

Island Park is quite a rustic campground; there are no “pads” for the fire ring and picnic table. At a few of the sites, if you have an RV, the table and fire ring are not conveniently located. Everything is well maintained, and the host goes out of her way to be helpful. There are often moose nearby and the setting on West Tensleep Creek is pretty.

Elevation: 2,607 ft
Drive 21 mi northeast of Ten Sleep, Wyoming, on US Highway 16; then go 3 mi north on FSR 27. From Buffalo, Wyoming, travel west 42 mi on US Hwy 16 to FSR 27 (at Deer Haven Lodge), turn right onto FSR 27 and go 3 mi north to campground.
Island Park Campground is accessible via US Highway 16, located approximately 21 miles southwest from Ten Sleep and 42 miles east from Buffalo.
