Lakeview Bighorn

We drove 381 miles to Lake View Campground from Fort Collins, Colorado. Yes, there is great camping within 50 miles of our home. However, we visited Lake View Campground in 2018 in July and were so impressed that we brought my brother and his wife on this trip. This was our second stay. Beautiful campground, tent-only for us.

In 2018 we met your camp host Eugene Hill. What a great guy! We were very surprised and pleased to find him there this year as is common that camp hosts move around from state to state. An absolutely wonderful man. Told him of our experience in 2018 of the Cow Moose wandering through our Lake View Campsite, and we hoped to see more wildlife like that. On the 3rd day of our stay he took the time to come find us and tell us about two Moose in the upper campground. I was able to get fantastic photos of TWO Bull Moose lounging in the tall grass. Also have a great video of a Bull Moose marching right through our campsite to the lake. Not many camp hosts would do that. My brother and his wife had the campsite next to ours. My sister in law told Eugene, "there's no fish in that lake," since she hadn't caught any. Well, after he finished his morning camp host duties of the vault and trash; Eugene came down to our campsite and took a ride on my brothers electric motored canoe. They only caught one fish but they had fun. That evening we had to really push and convince Eugene to accept a steak and pork chop in thanks for all his help. Give that man a raise!
Final note, I would like to suggest that you lower the price of firewood bundles. Here in Northern Colorado I can purchase dry pine split firewood that has all the bark removed (thus no beetles) for .13 cents a pound. In northern Wyoming I think you could do the same. Your firewood bundles were dry and burned well, but $6 bucks per bundle (maybe 10-15 pounds) is higher than it should be.

We stayed here during our long trip to Yellowstone National Park. I have to say our stay was amazing and the area peaceful. We had site 10 which had the vest view of the lake. During our stay we had two individuals ask if we would be willing to trade spots lol, pays to reserve in advance. For the one night we were there we really enjoyed the area and will hopefully be coming back and staying longer. We were in the site when Covid-19 epidemic was happening and the facility was clean and well maintained. I also have to say when i woke up the in the morning we were greeted by a moose.

Beautiful area. Campsites are a little too close together. That is my only complaint. We stayed 3 nights. We experienced elk, moose, and a bald eagle fishing in Meadowlark Lake. The camp host, Eugene Hill, is a great guy! Took me out in our canoe to show the best fishing holes. He also keeps this place clean and tidy. Thanks Eugene. We will be back in the future.
