Love the location of this cabin. Middle of nowhere with roads my Corolla can handle with no issues. Elk almost daily, the occaisonal bear, tons of chipmunks for the little ones to enjoy. Just wish the futons were newer.

As always, we had a great time. The cabin is in one of the most beautiful locations on the forest. It is fairly well stocked with most of what you might need. Great for group activities.

Great visit. Cabin was much cleaner this time (compared to mid summer) and it seems that much has been done to control the mouse/ground squirrel population. Cell signal seemed to be better, could fairly reliably txt. Was happy to see the flyswatter I left was still there; it belongs to the cabin now.

I recently stayed at Spring Valley Cabin/Bunkhouse and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience. The cabin was infested with mice, and we even encountered a rat the size of a guinea pig that came through the kitchen cabinets during the night. Mice were also entering through the kitchen door. This was not an isolated incident, as previous guests had also mentioned similar issues in the guestbook. Some stating they caught 4 mice in one day. This is particularly disheartening because we had stayed at this cabin multiple times before COVID-19 and never had any problems. The view from the cabin is absolutely breathtaking, which makes the current state of the cabin even more of a shame. We had booked a total of three nights but were unable to sleep due to the rodent infestation and left as soon as the sun was out the next day. Additionally, we were unable to use the bunkhouse due to no response from the number provided. Other reviews also mentioned that the bunkhouse had a potent urine smell from rodents, therefore we probably would not have used it either way. The health concerns posed by the rodent infestation are overwhelming and unacceptable. I have always booked through Recreation.gov and have never encountered such issues at any other cabins. I hope the management takes immediate action to address this problem, as it has the potential to ruin what could be a wonderful experience.

Well equipped kitchen. Bunkbeds were very comfortable. During summer months bring an extra sheet to hang onto moulding of entryway in order to block the sun from coming into the kitchen. This will help keep the cabin cooler. There was salt and pepper. You may want to bring along lawn chairs if you want a campfire. If you are addicted to your devices this might not be a good place for you. (We have T-mobile.) If you don't know whether you are addicted to your devices, this is the perfect place to find out if you are. 😉 There are plenty of board games for guests to enjoy. It's about an hour and a half drive to get to the Grand Canyon south entrance. Almost all windows are in need of screen replacements. The cabin could use a thorough cleaning (windows and sills). I cleaned them myself this time, because I like clean windows. Otherwise, the cabin was acceptable for overall cleanliness. 😊 Overall, we had a very nice stay.

A really nice cabin with everything you need, including killer views of the Meadow and distant mountains.

We’ve stayed in 3 for forest service cabins now and this one was the best equipped the cleanest in terms or usable kitchen items i.e. pots pans, kitchen utensils, etc. and in the best condition over all. Unfortunately we were unable to use the bunk house we rented in conjunction since the smell of rodent urine was overwhelming. After two days of airing it out with fans a the 2 windows we could get to open it was bearable but at that point we had learned to survive in the main house and did not use it as our group size permitted this. The urine smell is present in the main house to a lesser degree as well but one gets use to it quickly. Ground squirrels live under both houses. I get this is a wild place but this should be addressed as we would find fresh squirrel feces on the cooking stove daily. We enjoy these cabins but at the rates that are being charged more should be done to control rodents in the cabins.
