What Guests Are Saying
Fish Lake Campground is a secluded and beautiful spot, perfect for those seeking tranquility in nature. The campground features spacious sites, clean restrooms, and excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for trout. While mosquitos and occasional bear sightings are drawbacks, many visitors enjoyed the serene environment and stunning lake views, making it a memorable camping experience.

The campsite was great, as they all looked; but there were so many mosquitos!! The lake looked nice, but there was a lot of plant stuff in the water's edges and that water was all "standing." I think that we went through an entire can of DEET. We still enjoyed camping but, I think the experience would have been better if we hadn't stayed near the water's edge.

This campground is extremely remote and he’s to get to. The lake didn’t look swim friendly. It was very far from the redwoods. Forest seemed haunted. Will never go back.

Very bad experience for us and we have been to many campgrounds. The camp sites are not well organised (close to each other and not flat) and it is very remote (the road to get there is not easy + 2 hours from Redwood). People there were very noisy until late and there was lots of mosquitoes.

Love this place! The campsites are nice and large, easily accommodating two tents. Each site is well separated from others and there was no noise (aside from some snoring) at night. Vault toilets are cleaner than a lot of gas station restrooms. Be forewarned that there are bears in the area and can mess with your stuff but they don't appear to be dangerous or very bothersome -- just remember to lock your food and toiletries in your car as no bear boxes are provided.

Fish Lake NEVER disappoints! Well except for the millions of mosquitos! The Forest service people are so kind and friendly and do a great job of taking care of the place. The only negative response I have about it is the road leading to Fish Lake. It really needs to be cleared. It is CRAZY overgrown and in places it was barely wide enough for our truck.

The lake is BEAUTIFUL. Each campsite had a great view and lots of shade. Bring mosquito repellent. Our campsite had a hill to go up for a bit of privacy from the driveway. We had a bear stop by, so definitely lock up your food and anything scented (pets too! Our dogs scared it off though). The drive was amazing and Google maps wasn't too helpful, so follow the directions provided in your email.

Very over grown and hardly maintained. We got eaten alive and used an entire thing of bug spray in an hour trying to not be covered in bites … it’s very un used looking and ew why on the bathrooms .We were from Idaho so we should have known with it being so far back there… but we got there set up a tent and boom immediate black bear issue. More than 1 . not a soul in sight for 100 miles… here comes a bear… we left!!!! … nobody would hear us die ! Warning to out of staters we found a more inhabited camp sight not in the Recreation.gov sight

The lake was pretty. Getting there is a paved cowpath that goes on forever up a steep mountain. I was terrified going up, (45 minutes to go up 9 miles) and left 6am to come back down(45minutes). The mosquitoes were hungry and I was the main course, sending in an army upon my arrival. I did not return for the second night. 2am there was a lot of banging a few sites over. Heard load "moans" assume an animal. I will not return, period!

We had a great experience at Fish Lake (campground 10). We stayed for 4 days/3 nights and the site was clean and spacious. Would stay again.
