The no swimming after Labor Day rule needs to change. It shouldn’t matter what time of the year it is, if someone wants to swim and they paid for the campsite and amenities, they should be able to. It was 95 degrees when we were there, and we were not allowed to swim because it was after Labor Day. This alone ruined our weekend. We had to leave the Campground and go to Duncan Bridge, which is the same lake, Smith Lake, and pay to go swimming. This rule should be changed.

I’ve been camping at Clear Creek for over 40 years now. It’s a pleasant and beautiful place to visit. I have camped on all loops. Hoot Owl and Bear are my favorites. The paved multi-purpose trail is a great way to get some exercise walking or biking. It’s beautiful and peaceful and can be extended on the other side of the swimming area.If you bring a kayak, it’s easy to launch in lots of places. The hiking trails will take you below the cliffs where there are several overhanging shelters to see and explore.

The site hosts are very good and constantly taking care of the campgrounds, specially the bathrooms. Their attention to detail shows. I RV here several times a year and enjoy each trip.

It was not clear that one needed to call in advance if arriving after office hours — as a result the reservation was wasted and I had to get a hotel for the night due to a locked gate and no code being provided with confirmation. Many, many times have I arrived places after hours and have never been locked out. This needs to be abundantly clear and called out separately as a warning in the Facility Information instead of a single, indirect, statement in the confirmation email. When one is on a road trip it is not always possible to read that email before arriving but a warning on the Facility Information would be highly visible.

Campground is beautiful. Staff is not friendly. Camp host in the loop we stay at won't even acknowledge you. She drives around in her golf cart but never waves when she sees you. Actually none of the staff does.
