Check into the current state of the campground before staying to be sure it suits your needs I favor ACE campgrounds, but this one is unique. It felt like they are trying to be half commercial campground, at the expense of the rest of the grounds, and not an ACE campground.
Gatehouse hours all day, three people manning it when I checked in, concrete pads and sewer hookups on one loop was surprising, the bathouse condition was normal (new showerheads are needed), laundry rooms unacceptable, and the daily upkeep was substandard. The site water/electric was good. Picnic tables pretty rotting, but still solid. Minor infrastructure maintenance seemed good.
It was rumored some help had been pulled to work the state fair. If so, poor choice. With the dumpster for Antioch loop inconviently located by the gatehouse, the trash cans by the bathouse were almost always overflowing. Never saw the hosts once. I was left with no option but to walk a mile each way to the laundry room. When I called to ask and said I had my vehicle loaned out, no courtesy ride offered, only advised that it is a long walk and they wouldn't do it, and plan on taking a while because there is only one dryer. (There are two old washers and one dryer for all 142 sites. They are not planning to add more until they tear down outdated bathouse. )
The walking trail to go beween the loops and boat ramp is defuct due to the boardwalks across the water being derelict.
As a whole, the stay was okay, but I felt like I was on the black sheep loop, and decided not to stay as long planned.

Love it love it. I only wish the campground was closer to home. But is a great halfway point to spend the night for us going to and from Florida. The pull through site was HUGE and very convenient.

.y Husband and I visit was very nice and relaxing. The grounds were will maintain and the walking trails were picture perfect. The ants tried to mess things up for us but the stay was too beautiful to allow that. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay with service that treat you like family it's the pace to be just bring something to fight off the ants.
