What Guests Are Saying

Salmon Grove Campground & Fishing Charters offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with many guests praising the helpful staff, especially Stephanie and Jeremy, and the quality of amenities like clean showers and laundry facilities. Families enjoyed memorable fishing and rafting experiences, often highlighted by engaging guides who made the trips enjoyable and educational. However, there was a noted concern about one guide's performance, which detracted from an otherwise positive experience for some guests.

We are a family of 5 (kids 13, 9 and 8) - We stopped here by chance towards the end of our Alaska trip in late August, enquired about fishing trip and got way more than we had expected, from Stephanie welcoming us and explaining the great trip options to Jeremy who was a great guide taking us up the Klutina by 4x4, then rafting down fishing along the way (with Bald eagles escorting us the whole way)- an Amazing day, the kids enjoyed fishing + rafting + wilderness all wrapped into one. We also stayed a couple of nights at their campground (before and after the trip) - They made us feel very welcome and it was a great overall experience - I strongly recommend.
Thank you Jeremy and Stephanie, I really hope we get a chance to return.
BTW Jeremy, that Cabin I told you about with all the Bears on the lake - McKinley Lake Cabin (outside Cordova)

I don't know where to start with how great of a place this is to camp and fish with some great folks! The campgrounds have great access to dip netting along the Klutina River and a great team of guides who can arrange a variety of chartered fishing adventures. The campground has great amenities such as showers, a laundry room, electric hookups for RVs. If you want a great fishing and camping experience then look no further than Salmon Grove! We will be back and recommend you stop by for a wonderful experience!

Everyone was great except our actual fishing guide!! He took out my family of 5, with 4 poles, before we even started one pole was broken. So now I’m paying for 5 people to fish and literally only have 3 poles! Was there a discount offered, or anything? When we got back, the 2 fish we caught, he didn’t even filet corrrctly, and and totally screwed up in of our fish!! The lady at the counter even commented that we had gotten back very early from our trip. He was shitty to my kids, etc etc. The whole thing just didn’t sit well. The guide was mostly interested in himself. We had 3 fishing charters while in Alaska, this was definitely the worst with the lowest quality guide! We would go with a different outfitter next time!

I thought this campground was absolutely a gem! The owner was so nice and chill and while we didn’t go on a fishing guide I did observe how well they kept all their equipment….oh and the outhouse and public showers were spotless! We had full hookups and a nice shady spot and it was just incredibly restful. I highly recommend- people who say they are rude were probably rude to them because my family and I had the complete opposite experience!

Our family of four (including a ten and 13 year old) had a great time on the half day fishing trip with Eric as our guide. Gear was great and we rafted to two spots to fish. He was great at teaching us the technique and helping with the rods when they were stuck. Everyone caught something and we had a blast.
