What Guests Are Saying
Twelvemile Cabin is a charming retreat in a stunning, secluded location with beautiful views right on the inlet. The cabin is well-maintained, featuring a cozy wood stove and amenities like a kayak and crab pot, though wood availability may be inconsistent. While there is no cell coverage and cooking on the wood stove is not recommended, the overall experience, including wildlife sightings and crabbing, makes it a favorite among visitors.

Pretty easy to find the parking area, nice little gravel path that leads to the cabin. Cabin is in great shape. Wood stove, and there was plenty of wood when we arrived, don't know if that is always the case. There was a single kayak and a crab bot on the property, but we did not get the chance to use them. Drove to Dog Salmon run and saw a bear fishing in the little falls. The best part was the location of the cabin. Very secluded, and right on the inlet. Great views. So peaceful. We were just there one night, but would love to go back and spend more time. You do have to drive a ways off the highway on dirt/gravel roads, but well worth it. Oh, and there is an outhouse near the cabin.

This is a great little cabin in a remarkable location. A few things to be prepared for:
No cell coverage.
Wood fire place not good for cooking. Works great to warm cabin.
Wood is difficult to get nearby. If possible, bring it.
Bring something to light cabin inside. Head lamp works but isn’t ideal.

The cabin was great and the crabbing and bear hunting was exceptional. We had a great time. The only challenge was wood. There was no wood at the cabin so we purchases Viking bricks. However, they were a bit challenging to find. That said, the stove kept the cabin cozy and the entire week was a fantastic experience.

The twelvemile cabin way exceeded our expectations. Very clean and as advertised. There was wood to burn and we left some ourselves. Someone has also left two kayaks with a paddle a piece. Thank you so much USFS for the opportunities for out of staters to come to AK and take in what the state has to offer.
