Harrison lagoon is a wonderful cabin experience! Most forest service cabins are. Get out there and live!

Harrison Lagoon Cabin is a cozy gem, perfect for relaxing after outdoor adventures, with a comfortable atmosphere enhanced by a kerosene stove. While the surroundings can be dim and buggy, guests appreciate the natural beauty and abundant wildlife, including fish and bears. Challenges with cabin reservations highlight the need for improved cancellation policies and a better system for last-minute bookings.

We love this cabin. Watching wildlife is an added bonus. Kayaking around the lagoon is always an adventure, side hikes add more fun. Drinking water is easiest by boat at waterfall in the back of the lagoon. Updates to cabin are great.

Be aware that the wood stove is no longer in the cabin and has now been upgraded to a fuel oil heater.
Improvements to the cabin are WONDERFUL.

Very nice cabin and outhouse for such a remote location. Recommend remembering to bring lantern and headlamp as the cabin doesn't get a lot of direct sunlight so it can be a little dark inside.

Incredible opportunity to have your own cabin on the water in a remote area for a very affordable price. So happy that the US Forest Service provides these opportunities for the public. Tips for those who want to go. Bring your own firewood for the campfire and the kerosene stove in the cabin requires about two gallons per 24 hours if running it at a higher setting. Directions for the stove are are hanging on the wall behind the stove and are not with the rest of the paperwork. Plan on rain so you're not disappointed and have fun!

The cabin and location is perfect we had a good time there for 3 nights. The composting toilet is not good. Its not being used properly cause its very awkward, needs updated. Also, if you burn your paper per the rules you will just run yourself out. I also think that the propane stove is to small for the cabin, turned all the way up it will not heat the cabin enough to dry anything out, which makes staying there in the late fall/winter not ideal. Take more than 1 gal of kerosene per day and leave the heater on high all day.

Nice big cabin, the problem is there is no where to anchor safely as the lagoon was empty by low tide. We did some research before deciding to stay in the cabin for one night and ended up anchoring in Hobo bay leaving some folks in the cabin and picking them up in the morning. Hopefully people got the memo and don’t end up in a rough spot

The lagoon drains at low tide and should only be navigated by skiffs. Please consult local tide reports prior to arrival as they affect both transportation and recreation in the area.
The shoal to the east of the lagoon should only be used for short-term anchoring (unprotected). Boats are not provided by the Forest Service.
