The cabin is at a beautiful location at the end of the inlet with a salmon creek next door. We were Kayaking over from Tenakee and would highly recommend anyone doing the Hoonah-Tenakee route or vice-versa check the tides and get to the portage an hour before high tide (we went right as a 17 ft high was starting to go out and we really had to chase the tide- it moved so fast). The portage has a lot of big downed trees right now and its a bit of a slog, so have your dry suits on, have your gear ready to be packed, and be prepared to have to haul your kayaks over some big logs and be bear-safe. The cabin was clean with wood available for use when we got there- what a dream. We split what was left of the wood for the next folks before we left and swept up. Would love to visit this one again!
