Summary

The Berners Bay Cabin is a perfect size for two and offers stunning scenery. While the trail to the waterfalls was difficult to find due to downed trees, paddle boarding provided a unique experience with curious harbor seals and porpoises. Although mid-June brought some bugs, they were manageable, contributing to a refreshing and restorative stay.

Perfect size cabin for 2 😊 The trail to the waterfalls was un-findable- lots of down trees, but we paddle boarded over to the falls and had curious friends (harbor seals & porpoises) creep close to us.

Mid June- sand flies, mosquitos, & no seeums were out but manageable. I hope you can enjoy the beautiful space and scenery as much as we did. Truly refreshing and a great reset.

Great cabin! Lovely view of lions head. Small enough for the little oil stove to keep warm. Lots of stuff around to explore. If you've been to other public use cabins around Juneau this is on the smaller side. Sleeping 6 in here would be tight.

We had a great time and enjoyed the beach area. We really appreciated having the mooring buoy there for easy boat access.

The diesel heater did not work as well as others. It took hours for the cabin to warm up. Outside temps were only 40 degrees.
It seemed as though the max setting on stove was not allowing enough oil through. I’d recommend clearing lines or replacing fuel filter. Other than that, it was a great cabin in a great location.

Thanks for all that you guys do!

If you're coming up in early spring, it's not a bad idea to bring a snow shovel, just in case.

Great cabin. Unfortunately this trip there was a extremely strong smell of pinesol inside the cabin. So strong we could literally smell it from the beach. Not sure if it was from a previous guest or a work crew (they were there the week prior). Still a great spot but was difficult to sleep and a bit concerning. Called local office in Juneau, left message of concern and never got a call back. Obviously the smell will eventually go away but it would have been difficult for someone that is sensitive to such things.
