What Guests Are Saying
Mendenhall Campground offers stunning views, especially from sites like #8, 9, and 10, providing a scenic experience close to Juneau. The campground is well-maintained, with spacious sites, clean bathrooms, and excellent amenities, including free showers and bear-proof storage boxes. While there were some minor issues, such as limited shower hours and an incident with communication regarding campground closures, overall guests praised the peaceful atmosphere and helpful camp hosts, making it a highly recommended destination.

Mendenhall campground is fabulous. But I need to complain about the absurd fee paid to make the reservation. $8 is just ridiculous. It cannot possibly cost that much to process the reservation. But we have no choice. There is no competition. There is no way to pay in cash at the site. Just a totally depressing rip off. Please make the fee more realistic like maybe $1 which would more closely reflect the true cost of the transaction.

Our stay at the Mendenhall campground was superb! As a former director of CBJ Parks & Rec—it was wonderful to come back! The campground & facilities were fantabulous. Only suggestion was to post comprehensive ecological interpretive signs—similar to what I posted (w/grant money) on several CBJ trails. Thank you for a wonderful visit! Marc Matsil

Beware! When we were gone into town for an hour and a half someone stole our 2 camp chairs and all our firewood. This was the first time in all our year of camping that we couldn’t, leave stuff in our campsite when we weren’t there. Since we have to drive our RV when we leave we usually leave something in the site so people know it is occupied.
