What Guests Are Saying
The Kah Sheets Bay Cabin is set in a beautiful location, ideal for kayaking and tent camping on the nearby island. However, it is challenging to find, particularly due to insufficient markers, which can make navigation difficult during low tide. Visitors should be cautious when anchoring and consider bringing a kayak for access during high tide.

Very hard to find. Needs markers, now there's a couple buoys in the trees near the creek entrance, but if they fall down there's no way to see where the cabin is. Other than that it's beautiful! Be careful with anchoring out and bring kayak if high tide.

I kayaked here on outgoing tide. When the tide is out and you’re walking the mudflats the location of the cabin is difficult. I went up the wrong creek and just could not find the marker with high sea grass. I saw after looking at my tracker I missed the creek/river outlet by 100 yards. Beautiful tent camping though on adjacent island.

Came into the cabin at a 10.5 ft tide which was the best we could get. 4 guys struggled pushing and pulling a skiff up the river but eventually got it to the cabin which was very difficult but we made it. Cabin was great, wood was stocked and oil stove was full as well. Coho fishing was spotty but we did find some at the lower falls and also some on a separate river from the main kah sheets creek to the NW of cabin. Luckily the river came up 2-3 feet for our departure and we got out easily and made it back to Petersburg by the time High tide came in. Overall it was a great and unforgettable trip but certainly had to work for it.

Had a great time. Stream in front of the cabin was loaded with salmon. Be prepared for black bears at the cabin. The wood stove worked great and there was plenty of fire wood, but we couldn't get the oil stove to work.

wonderful cabin, better make sure u understand the tides or you could be waiting for hours and hours. If you time it right you can catch fish but one day off and you could miss it. The walk up river to the lake is decent went dry but when wet the board walk is very slippery. Been there four times and did not see one sign of any bears.

Accessible by boat or float plane, 24 miles from Petersburg. The cabin may also be reached by hiking the 2.75-mile trail from Kah Sheets Lake, which is accessible by float plane only. Due to changes in Kah Sheets Creek near the cabin, visitors will need at least a 16-foot tide and up to an 18-foot tide to navigate the area in front of the cabin, dependent on conditions. Deposition from the creek has created gravel bars which have made access more difficult. Refer to USGS topographic map Petersburg C4. Maps are available online or by calling the Petersburg Ranger District at (907) 772-3871. Please visit or call the Petersburg Ranger District at (907) 772-3871 with questions or to report vandalism or missing amenities.
