What Guests Are Saying
The Russian River Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained environment, with spacious sites and helpful staff, making it a favorite destination for many visitors. Guests appreciate the scenic hiking opportunities, including a popular trail to the falls, and the campground's proximity to fishing spots. However, challenges with the reservation system, road conditions, and maintenance issues, such as the dump station being frequently closed, have led to some frustration among campers.

It has the most beautiful scenery, perfect fishing spots, they got a handicap ramp from parking lot to the river and a beautiful trail along the Russian River that anybody can walk, bike or wheelchair to the famous Kenai River with blue glacier water.
We biked to the Russian falls where we whatched salmons jumping up the falls it was amazing.
We fished the Russian River where we share the river with a brown bear and then a black bear they dont do anything as long we respect their territory and always keeping a good distance..
Don`t forget your camera.

I was unable to use the two nights reserved because of the intense forest fire smoke.

We had a great stay here, it is primitive but offers a lot of access to the river, trails and fishing. We booked a river fishing tour with 5Dogs Fishing on the Kenai River and it was a awesome experience. We ate at Gwen's Lodge, very good but, like everything in Alaska food is pricey. We ate at our camp, packed plenty of non perishables since the camp had bear resistant containers.

Clean, well-kept campgrounds with nice level paved sites. Very rough road for the first half mile after the check-in booth so go VERY slow. This road has been terrible for years but the campground is worth the effort. No way to enter my disabled-veteran discount card on this site.
