Trout Lake Cabin offers a beautiful setting with easy access to the lake and abundant wildlife, including a memorable moose sighting. Guests appreciate the clean accommodations, fun boating opportunities, and the cozy loft. While the hike can be muddy and the toilet lacks paper, overall experiences are positive, and many express a desire to return.
Beautiful cabin lots of room, lake is beautiful. Be prepared to go in Search of firewood. I always bring some type of long burning fire starter incase you are working with damp sticks and brush. Try to be considerate of the next guest and leave them a little something to get started with.
We spent the night on May 27th, and it was an awesome experience. A sow moose appeared walking down the shore opposite the cabin, then she went for a swim. What a show! The hike in was somewhat muddy, but not terrible or too messy. Some folks before us left a bunch of supplies like paper plates, plastic ware, backpacking fuel, & matches. The toilet is close to the cabin but had no toilet paper. What a special place, we would definitely come back.
The hike out and back was pretty muddy, otherwise our whole trip was awesome. The cabin is clean, bright, steps from the lake and there was firewood chopped and waiting.
Cabin is nicely situated on the shore of the lake. Very windy night but the cabin is very tightly constructed, no air leaks noted. The Forest Service has done a great job keeping these cabins updated and well- maintained. Keep up the good work!

Excellent two story cabin in a beautiful setting! Amazing views and unique cabin with a lot of character. Thank you forest service for the brand new maul and two brand new axes. Wood burning stove works well, but anticipate 1-2 hours to warm up on a cold winter day. Everything was in good shape and forest service does a good job on the upkeep. Thank you!
