About Kanga Bay Cabin

Kanga Bay Cabin overlooks a secluded cove off Redoubt Bay on Baranof Island, and was built in 1998 by local volunteers. It's available year round, weather permitting, and makes an excellent base for experiencing and exploring this corner of Alaska. The site is remote. It can only be accessed by floatplane or boat. It's 10-minute plane ride or a 40-minute boat ride from Sitka. Visitors are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.

What Guests Are Saying

Kanga Bay Cabin offers great facilities and is well-maintained, providing everything guests need for a comfortable stay. However, the wood stove was out of service, which was disappointing given the rainy weather during their arrival. Overall, guests enjoyed their experience despite this minor setback.

Great little cabin. The wood stove is currently out of service, tried to start a fire but no smoke is exiting the chimney. Bummer after over an inch of rain fell the day we arrived.

Beautiful cabin and area. Lots of firewood available in the shed and splitting axe available as well. Toilet was a little Hike back in the woods. High tide was a breeze to pull right up and toss everything off before anchoring up.

Great little cabin!

Cute Cabin in a lovely cove. The sun sets behind the cove so you have lovely morning sun but it gets darker earlier in the evening. We had a great trip and would come again.

An amazing experience - wilderness and relaxation a short boat ride from Sitka. Planning to come back to this cabin in the future.

Lucked out and the weather held for us, and there were fish in the bay, and we got to do the short jaunt to the hot springs. Loved the relaxing weekend we spent there.
