Although the weather was marginally acceptable, we still enjoyed our stay. When we arrived there was a two-man crew there to repair the diesel stove fuel system. The repair was successful and the stove worked well and kept the cabin warm. This cabin gets high usage and it's showing a lot of wear and tear. The cabin is due for an overall refit, including the outhouse.

The previous guests left quite a mess, but the cabin itself is good. Worked fine for the four of us there on a hunting trip. The oil stove is a little persnickety, and I have used them at many cabins. It did work once we got it going and kept the place toasty. we used 5 gallons of fuel for two days, with outside temps in the high 30s.

Everything was great, we were warm but the stove isn't working perfectly, seems like it used to get warmer.

The heater was totally inoperable. The temperature was 5 degrees all our food froze. Thankfully we had good sleeping gear because we could not leave due to high winds and waves.

Carburetor on stove wasn’t working right, had to do some work to it to get it working.

Cute A-frame cabin surrounded by nice fine-gravel beaches. The cabin is very warm, seemed like it took a fairly long time to heat up (3 hours or so) but once warm it stayed borderline hot even with the stove on Low setting (in January!). Nice spot just far enough away from town.

Our stay at Piper Island was very nice. There was a very strong north wind coming into the bay and the mooring buoy held our boat well. There was plenty of diesel fuel in the stove tank, the sign says about 10 hours of burn time on medium high/gallon. We did dump all of what we brought into the fuel tank as well.
The cabin was clean upon arrival and had some great guest book entries. A little chilly until the stove warms up the space, but keep in mind it is not insulated, so extra layers are a must!
