"Our" Kelly Lake cabin was clean when we arrived. Loved that it came with saw, ax, hatchet for processing firewood. We enjoyed the provided row boat as well and rowed around the island in the morning to the sound of loons. We hiked to Engineer Lake and enjoyed that we could see the area lakes better after the fire.
Staying at Kelly Lake cabin was a highlight of our Alaska trip.

A beautiful cabin and wonderful stay! Plan on hiking your gear in as it was too windy to safely use the rowboat for supplies when we arrived. The hike was short though so we just returned to the car for a second trip. Also, there is plenty of downed wood near the cabin you can cut up if you don't want to carry firewood. The stove was wonderful and kept the cabin cozy. We will be going back for sure! No cell phone coverage at the cabin but had some coverage about 0.5 miles from the cabin so you could contact someone in an emergency. You may want to bring an inReach or sat phone just in case though.

This is one of the most beautiful spots you could ever stay in! Also we really enjoyed the upgrade of the fire pit! The new grill is so convenient!

Great trip, first time using this cabin. Quick 15min flight to get there, dog, wife & kids had a blast. Will be returning for sure. Been flying over it for years just never actually stopped before.

This is a great location for those who want to experience the solitude of the wilderness without backpacking. It is so nice to have the boat available to use, although with whitecaps on the lake we chose not to this trip. There are days of wonderful hikes nearby as well. The perfect cabin for us.

Access to each individual cabins varies. Some can be reached by hiking-in, while others require a boat or plane to access . In winter, a snowmachine may be necessary. Please refer to each specific cabin for information on amenities and accessibility.
Kenai National Wildlife Refuge: From Anchorage, take the Seward Highway south to the Sterling Highway; the eastern refuge boundary is at milepost 55 of the Sterling Highway. Another 5 miles from the boundary is the west entrance to the Skilak Wildlife Recreation Area. Continuing on to Soldotna will bring you to the refuge visitor center and headquarters, which is found by taking a left onto Funny River Road, then turning right (before the building supply store) onto Ski Hill Road.
Access to Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Cabins is via the Sterling Highway, with the eastern boundary of the refuge located at milepost 55. The Sterling Highway provides a route toward Soldotna, where the refuge visitor center is located.
