Cabin is spacious and well maintained.

Nice, beautiful views, peaceful, quiet nature, good trout fishing. Enjoying sun sets around the fire

The cabin is so large and comfortable. The wood stove worked great with plenty of wood. A new looking oil stove as well. Need to bring your own pads for the wood beds. We saw up to 11 common loons swimming together. We tried to catch trout but no keepers.

Virginia Lake is always a stunning location that never disappoints! During this visit, we had a family birthday party. Prior to our time there, the USFS had gone in and cut the grass/shrubs around the board walk, cleaned out the outhouse, and moved a derelict boat off of the small beach. (We had been there about a month before and these chores were due. It was amazing to roll up and see that the staff had done a great job tidying up the site.) The cabin was in really good condition, with extra supplies and food removed and wood present for splitting. It was a great day for our family and we will be back soon! Thank you to the Wrangell Ranger District for all you do!

Stayed two nights, starting Monday, June 20th. Found the cabin in tidy shape, with ample wood inside and ready to split outside, though most of the rounds are knotty and need a splitting wedge; there is a maul and a hatchet, which I made good use of. We did not use the oil stove; it was plenty warm and we slept with the screened windows open. Outhouse was clean, though toilet is nearing full capacity.

We enjoyed the large cabin and rowed out on the lake a bit; I recommend bringing a small outboard to fully enjoy the lake. My wife tried to get to the trailhead of an old mining/prospect trail that is indicated on older USFS maps, but could not make much headway in the undergrowth.

We had the incredible experience of watching a juvenile moose being chased by a juvenile brown bear through the water and along the shore right next to the dock! It all happened in just a few seconds as the bear chased the moose up the hill behind the cabin. A solid reminder to be bear aware when out and about!
