The campsites are WAY too close together. We left after one night because we did not have any privacy and our dogs were agitated due to the fact that people were walking by less than 10 feet away.

We stayed in the “A” loop, which is in more of a valley with great tall tree cover. Camping sites are nicely spaced, all have fire rings with grates. Campsite hosts are great abd keep the sites and the toilets were very clean. No _mobile coverage, but there is a Verizon tower just outside the campground. Short drive, but twisty to Jerome, tgen a few miles further to Sedona. Loved it!

The Potato Patch is now our annual Memorial Day camping adventure. We love the site A20 and espcially enjoy the disconnecting from our Phoenix lives.

The spaces are roomy and well shaded. The vault toilets were super clean throughout my 4 day stay. This campground is close to Jerome and many hiking trails I wanted to access. This was my second time bringing my trailer up there (didn’t use a site with hook-ups).

Enjoyed our campsite A14. Lots of open space for kids to explore and play games. The bathrooms were very clean. Such a nice family friendly campground.

Wonderful 3 nights at Potato Patch. The Mingus Mountain Summit across 89A is a must see. It is a dirt road to get there, but well worth it! Did a mile out and back on Woodchute Trail. Go early - it is southern exposure, so no shade from the mountain. Composting pit toilets were clean and without a stink. Hosts were great keeping the TP stocked. The RV sites are well spaced so you feel you have some privacy. Everything worked well for us for our first time using a non-electric site. We were able to top off our water tank by using a funnel and the water from the spigot, as we only have a 12 gallon tank. With solar panels charging the battery, and a solar power bank, there was no worry about charging phones and small items, and the camper battery stayed well charged. The weather was just beautiful on Memorial Day weekend.

From Prescott, take U.S. Highway 89 north past Granite Dells, turn right on Hwy 89A and travel approximately 20 miles to the top of Mingus Mountain on steep, mountainous grade. Potato Patch Campground entrance will be to your left (across from the Summit Picnic Area) on Forest Road 106.
From the Verde Ranger Station in Camp Verde, travel approximately 20 miles northwest on Hwy 260 (toward Cottonwood). Turn left on Hwy 89A. Stay on Hwy 89A (watch for a second left turn), then follow the paved and winding mountain road through the town of Jerome and up to the summit on Mingus Mountain. This road is steep with tight hairpin turns and few pull-offs in Jerome or on the roadway. The turn-off to Potato Patch is on the right, across from the Summit Picnic Area.
Potato Patch Campground is accessible via U.S. Highway 89 and Highway 89A, located approximately 20 miles from both Prescott and Camp Verde.

Policies & Rules
General
- Maximum stay limit is 14 days within 30 consecutive days in Prescott National Forest including stays at dispersed sites.
- A Forest Service host is on site.
- Access is limited to a combined vehicle length of 40 ft.
- Interagency Senior and Access passes are honored for a 50% discount on overnight fees only.
- All guests without a reservation (first-come, first-served) or a second vehicle must pay with exact change using the self-pay kiosk as soon as campsite is selected.
- Pets are welcome but must be on a 6 foot leash or in a cage and never unattended.
- Quite hours are between .
- OHV/ATV use is prohibited in the campground.
- Fireworks, including sparklers, are prohibited at all times on National Forest Lands.
- Fire restrictions may be imposed due to dry conditions, at which time smoking, wood and charcoal fires may be prohibited.
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
