Nice comfortable campground, all pull-thru, electric only. Bathrooms are available, cleaned and non-smelly. Campground hosts were friendly and monitored the spots just enough.

I was camping alone and enjoyed the location of A 20, saw deer everyday in the peaceful area. The camp site was clean, well raked and the fire pits were awesome. I used the attached grill top for a few meals. The bathrooms were SO clean….no flys, no smell with LOTS of toilet paper so they would not run out. Now let me tell you about the hosts….I met beautiful Carol on day one. I was early and offered to pay extra but she said no, not needed. She asked if my place was clean? I said cleaner than my house! We laughed. The next day I met “Crazy Harry”, his words….. he said they call him that and the female host I had met the day before was called “Christmas Carol”. hahaha… both of them were kind, helpful and full of answers to all my questions.
See you both again in a few weeks and I am bringing YOU BOTH homemade cookies.

I love this campground! It is close to home and yet makes me feel like I'm getting a true wilderness experience. I have hiked the 102 trail for 30 years and never tire of its beauty.

Very popular campground; not much available for those looking for FCFS. Campground close to the highway, but settles down at night. Nice pine tree canopy with clean vault toilets.

Was informed by the camp host. Carol that I wasn't a good citizen because my generator was making noise. I asked her if I was in compliance with the quiet hours and she said yes but I should be more considerate of where my generator exhaust is point . again asked her if I was in compliance why she didn't inform The people complaining that were complaining that I was in compliance. and I informed her I had a medical need with a BiPAP and an oxygen concentrator in my camper, but I ran it from 6 :00 a.m. For maybe 2 hours to charge my battery backup And it was off within 2 hours in the evening off by 8:00 p.m. she's a angry camp host not pleasant at all. Superb location only 1 1/2 hour from our home. Love the campground! Great layout of spaces. Weather was wonderful and the 2 camp host were the best: Carole and Harry were very Helpful and cheerful. We will be back

Beautiful hikes in the area, well marked trails. Campground was quiet and clean. Rain showers each afternoon. Verizon cell phone tower right next door to the CG.

From Prescott, take U.S. Highway 89 north past Granite Dells, turn right on Hwy 89A and travel approximately 20 miles to the top of Mingus Mountain on steep, mountainous grade. Potato Patch Campground entrance will be to your left (across from the Summit Picnic Area) on Forest Road 106.
From the Verde Ranger Station in Camp Verde, travel approximately 20 miles northwest on Hwy 260 (toward Cottonwood). Turn left on Hwy 89A. Stay on Hwy 89A (watch for a second left turn), then follow the paved and winding mountain road through the town of Jerome and up to the summit on Mingus Mountain. This road is steep with tight hairpin turns and few pull-offs in Jerome or on the roadway. The turn-off to Potato Patch is on the right, across from the Summit Picnic Area.
Potato Patch Campground is accessible via U.S. Highway 89 and Highway 89A, located approximately 20 miles from both Prescott and Camp Verde.

Policies & Rules
General
- Maximum stay limit is 14 days within 30 consecutive days in Prescott National Forest including stays at dispersed sites.
- A Forest Service host is on site.
- Access is limited to a combined vehicle length of 40 ft.
- Interagency Senior and Access passes are honored for a 50% discount on overnight fees only.
- All guests without a reservation (first-come, first-served) or a second vehicle must pay with exact change using the self-pay kiosk as soon as campsite is selected.
- Pets are welcome but must be on a 6 foot leash or in a cage and never unattended.
- Quite hours are between .
- OHV/ATV use is prohibited in the campground.
- Fireworks, including sparklers, are prohibited at all times on National Forest Lands.
- Fire restrictions may be imposed due to dry conditions, at which time smoking, wood and charcoal fires may be prohibited.
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
