About Camp Rucker Group Site

The Camp Rucker Group Site is not available for reservations at this time for site re-design and facility improvements. The group camp area is now open to individual party walk-in camping. Individual sites are $15 per night; cash payment on-site. Camp Rucker sits in the beautiful and remote Chiricahua Mountains of southeastern Arizona.

This site was closed. Your website says if a site remains closed you would cancel our reservation and refund the whole amount. I have emailed several times about this. It says if I cancel it I would only get a portion of my money back so I waited and emailed for you to refund my money. I do not know who to contact or how to get my money because I would have gone if the site had been open as I have an RV and do not need restrooms. Please refund my money

Apparently the site was closed for COVID but the website didn’t reflect that. It was also 20+ miles down a rough dirt road to get there. The bathrooms were closed and dirty. Terrible experience.

Our school took a field trip to Camp Rucker for the full day so we reserved it for the night before since checkout is at 2pm. We had our bus and at least 10 parents' vehicles with us. We had plenty of space and the kids loved that they could walk down and play in the water. The bathrooms were spotless. We had such a wonderful time and made fantastic memories. I highly recommend this campground!

From Douglas, Arizona, take Leslie Canyon Road north to Rucker Canyon. Stay on the main road, which becomes Forest Road 74. Turn left on Forest Road 74E and left again to the Camp Rucker Group Site.

Policies & Rules

General

  • No drinking water available; please bring your own
  • No reservations accepted for Easter weekend, Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend; during these times, the group site is used as an overflow campsite for the area
  • No cell phone service available at the site
  • No hookups
  • Pack and saddle stock not permitted in the campground
  • Bears live in the area; make sure all food is secure and trash disposed in trash cans provided
