This campground is quiet and peaceful. It is also clean with very nice camp hosts. There is an easy trail right off the campground to hike/walk. I feel safe camping here.

I was here a few years ago, since then the campground has been expanded with room for many more sites that are will spread out. The petroglyphs are mostly confined to a short loop with educational signage. The site are unimproved but at $8/night it’s a good deal and if you haven’t seen these it very interesting.

We discovered this campground 2 years ago during a day trip to the Petroglyph site and were hoping to return to camp at least for one night.
We were happy that we were able to find a relatively level site to park our RV, and the registration process via the Rec.gov app was pretty easy to complete. We appreciated the cleanliness of the pit toilets on site as well.
It was amazing to explore some of the hiking trails in the area, and also to experience the Painted Rock Petroglyph site. Sitting outside watching the sunset and then watching the stars was a peaceful and enjoyable experience.

Easy and quiet stop along I-8. The camp hosts have been doing a great job keeping the campground clean and can provide great information about the surrounding area.
