We had a really nice stay at Painted Rock Petroglyphs. Easy to find, very reasonably priced, sites were far enough apart for plenty of room, super quiet and a beautiful sunset. Can’t forget the amazing star gazing. We would definitely stop here again. Not a ton of amenities but there were a couple pit toilets. For sure worth the very small fee.

Excellent location for a stay that started off as a one night , and ended up being eight nights. So relaxing and tranquil. The hosts that were there reached out and were super helpful. If your one that likes a quiet camping area , this is one of them.

Great semi-secluded spot about 10 miles off Interstate 8. Spots are not on top of each other and the campground is quite spread out. Total silence and great stars. The petroglyphs are all on the small jumble of rocks that are fenced off but easy to view Some graffiti from a number of years ago.

More crowded than expected. Requirement to use rec.gov was both unexpected and unwelcome. Instead of putting $4 in an envelope, I had to download an app and figure out how to pay for my site. And the extra $1 goes to a private (defense) contractor, not the local BLM site. Completely unnecessary administrative costs!!
