About Mather Campground

Due to high demand, Mather Campground recommends reservations during peak season: March 1- November 30. You may book reservations up to 6 months in advance. Mather Campground is on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Grand Canyon is one of the most inspiring landscapes on Earth and draws over five million visitors per year to its spectacular scenery. Mather Campground is large and can accommodate a variety of needs and comfort levels. It is the only campground within Grand Canyon Village. Scenic overlooks, the park's free shuttle bus system, the Visitor Center, the general store and hiking and biking trails are all within a few miles of the campground.. The campground is at an elevation of approximately 7 ft. (2134 m). Summers are sunny with high temperatures generally in the 80s. Thunderstorms frequently occur in July, August, and early September. Fall and spring are mostly sunny and cool with occasional snow. Visitors should come prepared for changes in weather.

We had the best time at the Grand Canyon, Mather Campground. Lovely location with lots of trees and central to everything. The other campers were close but everyone was very conscientious and courteous. Bathrooms were clean and had a sink for washing dishes as well as a source for drinking water. Gray and blackwater dumping points were close by as were the paid showers.

The rangers were great and It was just a pleasant experience all around. What topped it off for me were the elk roaming freely through the campgrounds. Just added a bit more to an incredibly memorable time.

Tight site spacing, but that is made clear in the description. It would be great if there were tent only loops-camping next to a hulking, smelly home-on-wheels is not great. Keep the RVs together and separated from the camping! Otherwise, the bathrooms were nice, hosts kind, and campground clean. We love Mather.

I have been to many State Park but this one by far was so amazing. You need about 2 weeks to see it all . October was a great month to go not real cold and just hot enough. Want to thank you all for your hard work . Have no complaints everyone was helpful and the camp grounds were clean.
Great place for a family get together, WHY because no service. Play card games sat around the campfire and talk told stories
Had opportunity to reconnect with everyone. So we are all plan are next trip back.
It looks almost not real. Amazing Beauty.
