About Mather Campground

Due to high demand, Mather Campground recommends reservations during peak season: March 1- November 30. You may book reservations up to 6 months in advance. Mather Campground is on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Grand Canyon is one of the most inspiring landscapes on Earth and draws over five million visitors per year to its spectacular scenery. Mather Campground is large and can accommodate a variety of needs and comfort levels. It is the only campground within Grand Canyon Village. Scenic overlooks, the park's free shuttle bus system, the Visitor Center, the general store and hiking and biking trails are all within a few miles of the campground.. The campground is at an elevation of approximately 7 ft. (2134 m). Summers are sunny with high temperatures generally in the 80s. Thunderstorms frequently occur in July, August, and early September. Fall and spring are mostly sunny and cool with occasional snow. Visitors should come prepared for changes in weather.

Great sites. Clean bathrooms. We used the showers and laundry, both were great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, one of the best campgrounds. Really enjoyed our time at Mather Campground.

Fantastic campsite! It has that forest feel, while also having nice amenities for kids. The sites are spaced out enough you can’t hardly hear other campers. The traffic was minimal on our loop. Bathrooms were clean and there were no mosquitoes. There is a shuttle system right off the campground so once you are set up you can see the park without having to drive. I will stay here again next time.

We had a great time. Only complaint was the timing for the shower in the women’s shower.
Five minutes is not enough time to bath, shampoo hair and then rinse and add conditioner. Once I added my conditioner, I did not have time to rinse the conditioner from my hair before the water shut off. I saw another woman in the shower that was using the sink in the bathroom area to rinse her hair. My grand daughter who is autistic also had the same experience I did. It was more traumatic for her. Other than that we had a good time visiting the Grand Canyon.

Neighbors, across the street, had generator and placed on front of backed car. Generator was not quiet and constant noise aimed at our camp site. Adults walked through our site many times. Asked them to go around a couple of times.
Otherwise site was clean and would give it 5 stars if not for self centered camp customers.

Checking easy nice ranger gave good instructions. Nice site enough shade to help with the heat. Trails to all major centers and views. Only complaint, not enough bathrooms. The campground was not full but the bathrooms often had more people Han stalls and sinks available and it was a bit of a walk for many sites.

Restrooms were always clean and not far from our site. Ravens are aggressive! They destroyed my plastic 5 gal water cube! Water!
