About Mather Campground

Due to high demand, Mather Campground recommends reservations during peak season: March 1- November 30. You may book reservations up to 6 months in advance. Mather Campground is on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Grand Canyon is one of the most inspiring landscapes on Earth and draws over five million visitors per year to its spectacular scenery. Mather Campground is large and can accommodate a variety of needs and comfort levels. It is the only campground within Grand Canyon Village. Scenic overlooks, the park's free shuttle bus system, the Visitor Center, the general store and hiking and biking trails are all within a few miles of the campground.. The campground is at an elevation of approximately 7 ft. (2134 m). Summers are sunny with high temperatures generally in the 80s. Thunderstorms frequently occur in July, August, and early September. Fall and spring are mostly sunny and cool with occasional snow. Visitors should come prepared for changes in weather.

Mather Campground is beautiful! We stayed in site 49 and it was very spacious. This campground became an instant favorite of ours. We will camp here again.

I have early arrived and the site was occupied so I have to got back later and the site was occupied for the same RV.
Rangers give me another site not similar to the one that rented. Not too shade on this one.

The campground was amazing! Our kids didn’t want to leave when it was time to go. We were able to see so many elk walk through our campsite. It was truly amazing!

Very nice location! Loved the forest and of course the canyon at sunset and sunrise! Two totally different experiences! The Elk walked through our campsite about 10 ft from us while eating breakfast! Very cool to see a young calf Elk learning from the mother! Overall great visit!

We had a great time exploring Grand Canyon. The RV sites were MUCH larger than what was shown on the website. Campground was not even half full.

Such a great spot! The two nights before we camped in other locations on other stops of our roadtrip and didn't enjoy it, so to come to Mather after that was exactly what we needed! It was so clean, peaceful and in a good location to catch the bus or walk. Highly recommend!
