About Mather Campground

Due to high demand, Mather Campground recommends reservations during peak season: March 1- November 30. You may book reservations up to 6 months in advance. Mather Campground is on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Grand Canyon is one of the most inspiring landscapes on Earth and draws over five million visitors per year to its spectacular scenery. Mather Campground is large and can accommodate a variety of needs and comfort levels. It is the only campground within Grand Canyon Village. Scenic overlooks, the park's free shuttle bus system, the Visitor Center, the general store and hiking and biking trails are all within a few miles of the campground.. The campground is at an elevation of approximately 7 ft. (2134 m). Summers are sunny with high temperatures generally in the 80s. Thunderstorms frequently occur in July, August, and early September. Fall and spring are mostly sunny and cool with occasional snow. Visitors should come prepared for changes in weather.

Every campspot is large, super easy to park your camper! Close bathrooms. Don't forget to bring $2.50 to pay for the showers!

Site 87 has a slight pitch but you can get close to level. You know this campground was built in the days when people had a car and a tent or a small trailer maybe. If you bring anything bigger than that, you must carefully evaluate the site descriptions. That aside, you're camping at the Grand Canyon so enjoy it.

Great spot. Bike riding is easy access to visitors center etc. fully stocked food store. They even had Taylor porkroll. Elk in the morning is a bonus

Our site was very comfortable. We did need to level with three tiers of blocks. It is a bit of a walk to the restrooms if that is an issue. The site was very clean when we arrived and had nice spacing from the other sites on either side.

The campsite was just fine, but the shower I was truly looking forward to in the morning was shut down due to an APS power outage. Otherwise everything else was good. I would stay again.

Clean welcoming campsites, paved pads, cement tables and fire ring with gates. Short bike ride to the Visitor Center, Market Plaza and Village. Bus stop just outside entrance to campground. Nice showers and laundry facility. Bike trails through the park are paved and wind through the forested area with plenty of shade.
