About Mather Campground

Due to high demand, Mather Campground recommends reservations during peak season: March 1- November 30. You may book reservations up to 6 months in advance. Mather Campground is on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Grand Canyon is one of the most inspiring landscapes on Earth and draws over five million visitors per year to its spectacular scenery. Mather Campground is large and can accommodate a variety of needs and comfort levels. It is the only campground within Grand Canyon Village. Scenic overlooks, the park's free shuttle bus system, the Visitor Center, the general store and hiking and biking trails are all within a few miles of the campground.. The campground is at an elevation of approximately 7 ft. (2134 m). Summers are sunny with high temperatures generally in the 80s. Thunderstorms frequently occur in July, August, and early September. Fall and spring are mostly sunny and cool with occasional snow. Visitors should come prepared for changes in weather.

The RVs from Camp America cruise America take up all the spaces. They don’t use their fire pits and they only stay one night. I had to move from the Aspen Loop to the pine Loop and again saw the same problem. Shouldn’t those people park in the visitors parking lot they’re using up time at a campsite. I wondered five days in a row.

Our whole family loved camping here! The bathrooms were clean and close by, the campground’s location was perfect for accessing the park via bike (highly recommended!), it was very quiet, and there was ample room between sites. We’ll 100% stay here again for our next trip to the Grand Canyon!

We had a great stay at this campground! Our site had a nice fire pit and picnic table, and the bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Everything was easy to access, and we had a very positive experience overall.

The only minor inconvenience was that the bathrooms only had air hand dryers and no paper towels. Other than that, we had no complaints and would definitely stay here again.

Great pull through site. Clean close, but not too close bathrooms. Shuttle stop was a bit far from the further camping loops, but a great option to see the park.
