About Mather Campground

Due to high demand, Mather Campground recommends reservations during peak season: March 1- November 30. You may book reservations up to 6 months in advance. Mather Campground is on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Grand Canyon is one of the most inspiring landscapes on Earth and draws over five million visitors per year to its spectacular scenery. Mather Campground is large and can accommodate a variety of needs and comfort levels. It is the only campground within Grand Canyon Village. Scenic overlooks, the park's free shuttle bus system, the Visitor Center, the general store and hiking and biking trails are all within a few miles of the campground.. The campground is at an elevation of approximately 7 ft. (2134 m). Summers are sunny with high temperatures generally in the 80s. Thunderstorms frequently occur in July, August, and early September. Fall and spring are mostly sunny and cool with occasional snow. Visitors should come prepared for changes in weather.

I always enjoy staying in Mather Campground. I need a level site, & it is difficult to determine how level the site is by just one photo. I realize that you cannot adequately show how level the site really is. However, it could be a factor in my choosing to stay at theTrailer Village Concession in the future.

Mather Campground was the perfect place to camp prior to our GC hike. The campground is conveniently located less than 5 minutes drive to the Visitor's Center where we caught the 4:20 am hiker's express shuttle to the South Kaibab Trailhead. The bathrooms were clean and the shower / laundry facility was within walking distance from our Alpine Loop #27 campsite. We have camped at Mather before and will camp there again. Great place! Thank you.

I wish I had booked all my nights at this site it was cheap but had great toilet and shower facilities onsite and walking distance to the edge of Grand Canyon!

The Rangers on site were awesome and great to talk to.

It was amazing. The campsite was spotless, all campers followed the quiet rules, attendance was a bit low despite the Memorial Day Holiday, so driving and hiking was a pleasure! Big bonus - the Golden Eagle Pass!
