About Mather Campground

Due to high demand, Mather Campground recommends reservations during peak season: March 1- November 30. You may book reservations up to 6 months in advance. Mather Campground is on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Grand Canyon is one of the most inspiring landscapes on Earth and draws over five million visitors per year to its spectacular scenery. Mather Campground is large and can accommodate a variety of needs and comfort levels. It is the only campground within Grand Canyon Village. Scenic overlooks, the park's free shuttle bus system, the Visitor Center, the general store and hiking and biking trails are all within a few miles of the campground.. The campground is at an elevation of approximately 7 ft. (2134 m). Summers are sunny with high temperatures generally in the 80s. Thunderstorms frequently occur in July, August, and early September. Fall and spring are mostly sunny and cool with occasional snow. Visitors should come prepared for changes in weather.

This was genuinely the nicest campground I have ever stayed at! Everything was so clean and convenient! The campground was also so beautiful, and I felt so safe! I loved it so much and had the best spring break!

Stayed here on a Monday night in early March. I arrived late and left early, stayed in my car at site 309. Campground was quiet, bathrooms were an easy walk. I think if it were later in the season or on a weekend, it would have been a little crowded for my personal taste, but since it was just one night, I very much enjoyed it. The campground proximity see the sun set and rise over Grand Canyon made it 100% worth it. Bathrooms were clean - and, after a week of primitive camping up to that point, having running water was pretty spectacular! Site 309 was good. It had good spacing between it and the surrounding campsites. It backed up to the RV sites, but I did not hear any generators (but I arrived at the end of generator hours and left before they were allowed in the morning).

We're going to just stay in dispersed camping outside the park, but decided to pay $120 for camping so we could take a shower. Then we found out that showers cost extra. How about you give tokens for paying campers and charge a fee to those that haven't paid anything.
