GeneralThis campground was surrounded by the Rodeo-Chediski fire in the summer of 2002. The area around the campground was severely burned and presents safety hazards, including stump holes and falling limbs and trees. The campground is still forested and trees within the facility have been sprayed with pesticide to help protect against bark beetles. For more information, contact the Lakeside Ranger District at 928-368-2100.

Great place to camp with your family and a group of friends. The trail behind the campground is excellent. The restrooms were very clean and in excellent conditions. There wasn't any potable water like there normally is but managed without it.

The sight was great but there is not a camp host at the moment and several people tried to camp there. We had to have the Forest Service and Sheriff come out to remove one of them. Other than that is was quiet and clean.

Camp ground was great. My only complaint is with recreation.gov. They list this camp ground as first come first serve (FF) is you are trying to reserve less than 4 days from your stay. This is not true. I went to the camp ground and the host said I could not stay there because I had not paid for a reservation and there was no way to pay the host. Site was sending me to host for FF, and host was sending me to site to pay. Get your act together.

Getting There
Drive to Pinedale, Arizona, on State Highway 260, approximately 14 mi northwest of Show Low. Turn south on Forest Road 130 and continue approximately 2.3 mi to Junction 130A. Turn right to the group site, following the signs.

Lewis Canyon Group Campground is accessible via State Highway 260, which is approximately 14 miles from Show Low, Arizona.
