What Guests Are Saying

The Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area offers a beautiful and well-maintained campground with clean facilities and stunning views, making it a great stop for travelers. Many appreciate the easy access to the river and hiking trails, as well as the reasonable pricing. However, some issues were noted, including outdated signage, limited water access for RVs, and occasional noise from the highway. Overall, it provides a peaceful, scenic experience, especially in cooler seasons.

This campground is a perfect stopover when traveling along I-15. It is quiet with some spectacular views along the Virgin River Gorge, and the sites are mostly easy to pull into and set up quickly after a long day on the road. The only negative we found was that the water spigots were all turned off without any notification on recreation.gov nor was it posted anywhere in the campground. Luckily we knew we were entering desert territory and came prepared.

Nice campground and scenery of the canyon & river. Short easy trail down to the river. Restroom was dirty/stinky though.

Such a nice location and tremendous scenery. Having a host on site would help for sure … at least for water and garbage management.

Great site, easy pull up right from the highway. Paved camp spot in-between vegas area and st george area. Optimized for rv or van, but tent camping is still possible. Make sure to hike down to the river at some point. The hike is quick, and the river is impressive from up close. I didn’t hear any road noise from this site, even though I could see the road.

Wow. Hidden gem! Can't believe such a scenic, inexpensive campsite is right off the highway like this. Love how you can just pull your RV aside into your spot, too, with no need to reverse. Only reason for 4 out of 5 is the signage to direct you to your site could be much better. We got confused because our reservation was labeled "upper loop" but the signage did not reflect this. I was finally able to find our site by looking at the map posted by the entrance, as there were no signs pointing you to site numbers etc. and the other "loop" appears to be only for day use.

This is a very pretty area! I stayed at campsite 92 right by the river and it was so fun and easy to walk down there and explore. It also wasn't too crowded which was really nice. The bathrooms did get a little gross though, but there was running water. The drinking fountain water wasn't great though, and we ended up just buying bottled water.
