I grew up camping at Houston Mesa and it remains the first campground I check whenever we're heading in that direction. It is a very "city camper" friendly campground. Which is why my wife loves it lol. She love hiking and sitting by the fire, but she needs a shower at the end of the day. The hosts are friendly, they do a good job of keeping things tidy. We will definitely be coming back again and again.

We love the campground but our space Mountain 12 needs the trees trimmed. The space is tight and I didn't appreciate the scratches on the driver side of my rv. Please take care of this as we would like to stay in the same place next visit.

Beth was an amazing camp host! Hands down the cleanest bathrooms and site we’ve ever stayed at!

This campground was in a beautiful forest but a bit chilly in early November. We left after the first of our 3 night reservation because the showers nor the dump station were working. It was disappointing that we were not notified in advance and it seems impossible to get a refund (I called and also emailed). I selected this campground for our Arizona tour based on amenities offered on the Rec.gov website and thankfully we were able to get a last minute site at Lost Dutchman State Park near Phoenix. Everything there was as advertised.

Clean site. This campground is right off the busy road in Payson and you can hear car traffic but it isn’t that noisy. The sites are big and not close to each other which is nice.

Very clean and secluded camping area. A little road noise from the nearby highway, but not disturbing at night. All trailer areas were easy to get in and out of (mixture of backin and pull through), with lots of space and screening trees between sites. We will happily come back again.

Camp host Beth was great. Campground was semi busy, but still quiet at night. Clean restrooms, but bring your own handsoap and paper towels. The nearby Waterwheel hike is a must!

Great experience for me and my wife. First time at Houston Mesa and enjoyed the 4 days we spent there. We usually have gone north of strawberry for some boon camping. We have plans to return to Houston Mesa in the near future.

Great location near/ in town. Good separation between sites.
RV dump and Showers were closed due to a pump failure and they said they were having issues getting a pump. Was down the whole week we were there and no one notified us before our arrival that it was closed
