What Guests Are Saying

Ponderosa Campground offers beautiful, spacious sites surrounded by tall pines, making it a favorite for many campers. The hosts are friendly and maintain the campground well, ensuring clean facilities and a pleasant experience. However, some sites experience noise from the nearby highway, and concerns about tree removal for maintenance could impact future visits.

Areas where you pull in are not very level. The drives drop off and the camping area is not level. Not enough pictures of each camp site to tell anything

Ponderosa campground is one of my frequent spots, I love size of the campground, how nicely spaced everyone is so you aren't camping 2 feet from neighbor like at many campgrounds, like Burnt Corral. They did thin the trees at Ponderosa for fire protection, but this does mean slightly less shade, but overall it's not bad. My only complaint isnt with the campground, its with any camper that feels the need to run their generators all day long. People dont go camping in nature to just sit next to the sound of an engine running all day. People want to hear nature. If youre reading this, please be a good neighbor and if you have to run your generator for a bit, please shut it off as soon as you can. I had a family next to me last week, and it ran nonstop, even when the family left to go somewhere else. Be a good neighbor.

One of our favorite campgrounds. Beautiful surroundings , tall pines and very peaceful. We took a wrong turn on our hike and ended up walking about 5 miles instead of the two and a half planned. We were gassed and the camp host came by offered me and my Dog a ride which was much appreciated. His name is Jim and he is a real nice guy. Payson is just down the road with good shopping also.

Great site, plenty of room for 3 good sized tents. Site A14 is too close to the road and could hear cars,Semi’s all night.
We will be back for sure.

This campsite is situated right next to the highway so you can hear cars all day and night and even see them clearly! It took away from the “camping” experience. This specific site also could not comfortably hold more than 1 tent if you also have an easy up as the ground is incredibly unlevel and there’s not a lot of space either. Important to know if you’re having a few tents at your site. I would never come back to this campground again.
