Great experience for me and my wife. First time at Houston Mesa and enjoyed the 4 days we spent there. We usually have gone north of strawberry for some boon camping. We have plans to return to Houston Mesa in the near future.

Great location near/ in town. Good separation between sites.
RV dump and Showers were closed due to a pump failure and they said they were having issues getting a pump. Was down the whole week we were there and no one notified us before our arrival that it was closed

Reservation fee is a little steep, would be nice for it to be lower so it’s more affordable for campers. Gas prices are so high now as well as food etc. A Javelina pack walked through our individual campsite around 1:30 am our first night there! It was a bit scary as we weren’t sure if it was a bear or javelinas, other than the nonstop, constant throughout the day and night LOUD traffic driving on the Houston Mesa Road (a main thoroughfare) it was a fun time!

We love camping at Houston Mesa. There is plenty of space to spread out and for the kids to run around. The elk loop has the best rangers, they are always so friendly and helpful. We try and stay at least twice a year.
