What Guests Are Saying

Koomer Ridge Campground offers a beautiful and spacious setting with well-maintained sites and easy access to hiking trails in the Red River Gorge. Most visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere, clean facilities, and friendly hosts who are eager to assist. However, some guests noted issues with broken amenities and difficulty contacting the campground host, which detracted from their overall experience.

Campsite was clean and fairly well spaced from the neighbors. Our spot was also pretty big with a small decline in the driveway to back down but there’s space to get a teardrop camper leveled out. Close to two trailheads on the campgrounds.

Koomer Ridge has nice sites but the big draw to stay there is the bathrooms. Which have been closed more than open. I have been told they are tiling the bathrooms last year and this year. Won't be back until they get things together and the bathrooms are open.

Campground hosts were excellent, friendly, did a great job cleaning and maintaining sanitation facilities. It was a bit disappointing that the bath house was not yet in service as is usual at this time of year, due to contractors still completing some upgrades. Also, the lack of water throughout the campground due to a unrepaired water line break was an inconvenience. There should have been some notice sent to those having reservations about these conditions.

The campground was convenient to the places we wanted to go. The campground hosts were awesome…kind and helpful. The sites are large and somewhat private compared to other campgrounds. Summary- campground is beautiful, hosts were amazing, apps - map and description needs work.

No water or shower house for 4 days of camping!!! Campsites should have been reduced for having to bring all of our own water in. So frustrating! Hope it’s fixed by October when we hope to return.

Our campsite was really nice and the setting of the campground is quite beautiful. It would have been a more or less perfect stay except that there was no water in the entire campground and the bathroom buildings were closed and caution taped. Someone told us they had an issue with a water main or something. Regardless, this was not communicated to us ahead of time and was not a nice surprise, plus the campground is really not worth the cost if there are no facilities…

The campsite itself was very nice, but the campground itself needs some work. The campsite has a nice level pad, functional picknick table, two handy gear hanging stands, and a fire pit. Cell phone reception was quite good and the sites are spaced out nicely. The communal facilities at the campground need some work though. The bathhouse and the water spigots were unfortunately closed down the weekend of my stay due to a water line break. That left the outhouses as the only option available. The one closest to my site had seen better days. The latch on the door was broken and the tile on the floor was breaking apart which caused a tripping hazard. The highway noise is quite noticeable (bring your earplugs), but the closeness of the highway affords you easy access to Slade and Campton. Despite these negatives, I had an overall enjoyable stay with easy access to the trails in the Red River Gorge.

We had a good experience at Koomer Ridge Campground. We met some nice people and pets. The only drawback was the lack of shower facilities due to water pipe break.
