Burnt Corral Campground

The views and the area around this campground are just breathtaking! So beautiful!
Camp is clean and well maintained although it appears to be aging.
The road coming in is not at all for the faint hearted!

I spent seven days and nights at Burnt Corral recently. We had the best time ever.

We had a lakeside camping site. There are many Lakeside camping sites to choose from. Many are first come first serve. But the sites that are not directly on the water have a good view of the lake anyway.

There is a boat launch if you have a boat. The camp host, Brett, does an amazing job keeping everything clean and in order. It was such a pleasure to stay there with everything being so well cared for. The bathrooms are amazingly clean, and the grounds are nice and tidy. There is no trash or garbage anywhere. Brett made his rounds in the morning checking on everything, and his presence was seen throughout the day attending to landscaping, bathroom maintenance, and general supervision. He was helpful and answered all of our questions and gave us fishing tips. Thank you to Brett and Breezy!

The road getting there, although dirt, was well packed and graded. It was practically like driving on a paved road, except it was dirt. There was some road construction going on, but it did not interfere with passing through. The road is watered, so there was practically zero dust. The road is narrow, but two vehicles can pass each other, and there are turnouts if you need more room. If I understand correctly, they plan on chip sealing the road soon which will make access even easier.

You can fish from the shore, which we did and I caught four rainbow trout with worms and yellow Power Bait. We also took our kayaks and trolled the lake with Rebel Crick-Hopper lures and I caught one big rainbow trout trolling.

We had perfect weather. There was a little bit of rain but not enough to stop us. It was cool and relaxing throughout the night and we were very comfortable. The daytime was also cool and comfortable and the sun was out nearly the entire time. This is the perfect time of year to go, February and March.

We all had a 100% great time.

Site 15. Spot was good. Tent was unlevel due to no flat area. Not awful. It’s a little bit of a hike to the bathrooms as it’s basically in between two restrooms. Was reasonably private. The negative was the lack of enforcement of the quiet time. Not a deal breaker for us, but don’t love hearing F-bombs and loud talking around midnight.

This campground was awesome! Our campsite was in great proximity to the water and to the restrooms. It felt safe and well cared for. We had a lot of fun, and it was nice place to relax. There are cows that graze throughout the area, which means lots of poo all around the site. This didn't bother us, but I could see it possibly being an issue to others. The campfire ring was also extremely full of ash, and it took me 2 trashbags to empty it out. The campsites are very close together, and you can absolutely hear your neighbors. We heard babies crying both nights and one of the groups near us were drinking and talking until about 12a. There was also a group that arrived at 2:30a and spent the next hour loudly setting up/flashing lights. The drive in and out is extremely frightening. It is a single lane, packed dirt road. There is no gaurdrail and when a car comes the opposite direction, there is barely enough room to pass without falling off the cliff side. There were road crews also working on the road, so there were construction vehicles to pass by. Also there was absolutely ZERO cell reception.

Location was great, beautiful campground and the Lake with the mountains surrounding it looks majestic, however there was a Sprinter Van across from our site that kept the generator running throughout the day and it was noisy and the fumes would engulf our campsite.

Love love this park!! We met friends there for a great visit. We occupied 11 campsites!
What we love:
Beautiful clean lake that we kayaked on. Many in our group fished and caught a few.
Good chance of getting a lake front spot.
Lots of first come/first serve spots
We get to use our lifetime pass to get half price!
Not so much:
No cell service.
8 miles of gravel to get there
All in all this is a great park!!

This is a very loud campground everyone was nice but both times I have been has been loud. So don’t worry about talking or music. Some bathrooms smell others do not.

Great out pf the way spot. Unfortunately, it can be pretty raucous over the weekend. There is a need to figure out how to enforce campground rules when campers don't respect Camp Host efforts.
