Burnt Corral Campground

Great campground….about 5 miles on a gravel narrow road but once at the campground very beautiful….lots of fishing boats at the boat ramp….used our kayaks.

As an Arizona Native I've been coming to these spots before they were paved, paid , over run, trashed campgrounds. But I hold this spot near and dear to my heart so we still keep coming as a tradition...Every year is harder because of the amount of people, trash. And just over all lesser quality of keep up and maintaining. Noone has any campgrounds etiquette and will march through your camp all day without a care in the world. Screaming kids, barking dogs and generators all night. But the water front spit is hard to beat...so we tolerate it. So sad they shut down the dispersed areas. Im sure those will be more paid sites soon. The fire pit was packed to the brim with previous usages-- camp host should be empting this after its vacant. That's why we pay for the spots. Thats who pays their paycheck to be a host of the campground. Spots should be ready to use. Thankfully we brought a shovel because we had to dig out the trash and ash out if the pit before we could even make a fire. Other than that, it was nice...water was perfect. The cows walking through the campground was kind of fun to see.

Had a great spot...number 37. Lake is beautiful. Restrooms were not very clean. All they did was check toilet paper. Water faucet outside was leaking the 3 days I was there. Saw a lady wash her hair in it...yuck. All in all I would go back again..because of the beauty.
It is a 6 mile dirt road to get there but it was graveled and watered to keep dust down.

Great place

Apache lake is our favorite place in the country! Burnt corral is one of our favorite spots to camp when we come visit. This visit was one of the most memorable. We had our wedding there!! The new camp hosts Theresa and Bill were so sweet and even came to the wedding!! Burnt corral is a must to go visit when in Arizona.

Had a good time. Went kayaking. Only thing didnt like, was being so close to bathroom and the ground was almost all slanted, so we had a hard time finding where to set up tent.

This was our 2nd time here. I gave it 4 stars because we hardly saw the camp host, and there were overgrown weeds at our site and throughout.

Beautiful lake; perfect for kayaking and fishing when it's not windy. The road to get there is steep and narrow, but it's worth it!

Road getting out here was in good condition from both directions, with the new road going to Roosevelt Lake being paved in most areas. Campground is well maintained, and has beautiful views of the lake. Bathrooms were clean, and very quiet at night. This part of the lake is away from the main lake and it is perfect for kayaking with very little boat traffic.

This is a beautiful camping area. The state has neglected to keep many of the sites trimmed and graded. I brought my own pruners, saw and hedge trimmers on my last visit. I trimmed the site I selected so that I wasn't crowded in by bushes and tree branches. Overall, a very nice stay. Camp hosts are very nice too.
