Location is great, but this is where it ends. We reserved a site right next to the lake, 51, just to find this site taken by some other campers. When consulting the camp host he explained that due to a planned maintenance of the streets no reservations are saved anymore and basically everybody could stay anywhere (they also have a machine on-site that lets you select any site). So, we ended up somewhere in the middle as the good spots were already taken (arrived by sunset). Shortly after, another camper parked next to us and started his generator and kept it running half of the night. Pretty frustrating experience to be honest. Would not go again if conditions do not change

Though this is a beautiful campground, the management of it is POOR.
The barking dogs, the screaming children, the LOUD generators make the experience less than comfortable.
Walking or driving through the campground dogs bark incessantly, they are often off leash and they lunge at you as you walk down the center of the road. They are often left inside campers while the owners leave the campground - they howl and bark ALL DAY and/or ALL NIGHT!!!
The kids seem to have no manners - screaming, playing chase, running through our campsite. This is behavior for the playground - not my campsite.
Finally - generators. There should be a decibel level for generators allowed (and enforced) into the campground. Some of them are SO LOUD it is impossible to relax in our own campsite because of the noise and often the SMELL from these outlandishly loud machines. Often the owners turn their generators on and leave their campsite - let the machine run while they are gone so that they do not have to listen to the noise when they are at camp.
Generator hours should be enforced. While we were camped there generators started up to two hours before the "morning" start hour and were run several hours after "evening" stop hour. In fact, a couple of nights - there was a generator that ran ALL NIGHT!!!!
If you can get control of these issues - you would have a much more inviting campground.
A NOTE ON CAMPFIRES: At this point, given the drought, the strong winds that seem to be ever-present - is it wise to allow campfires? A fire came very close to destroying the campground a couple of years ago - WHY should we allow the possibility of such a fire actually starting in the campground. The use of propane "camp fires" would be a good substitute.

We loved this campsite EXCEPT, the 16 hour a day generator hours. Given that the whole place is never more than 1/3 full we would love to see one of the loops designated nongenerator camping only. General
- Maximum stay limit is 14 days within 30 consecutive days on the Tonto National Forest including dispersed areas. During June, July, and August temperatures reach well over 100° and many RV air conditioners cannot keep up. Maximum trailer length is 32'. Extra (second) vehicle charge of $8 per night is required. An RV towing a car counts as one vehicle and a vehicle pulling a trailer counts as one vehicle. There is a maximum of two vehicles at a single family campsite and four vehicles at a double family campsite. Maximum of 2 vehicles per single campsite and 4 for double campsites.Boat ramps are usable when water elevations are higher then 2,110 feet.Fireworks are always prohibited on National Forest Land.
