Windy Hill Campground

No showers, terrible reservation system that reduces available campsites. Double sites are $50 and only offer one extra picnic table. No nearby dump station for black water.

Site indicated a double, which in most places indicates you can take multiple vehicles. These double sites only mean you have two picnic tables. The trees are NOT trimmed to accommodate newer height trailers, so we had to tie the tree back in order to get our trailer in. If the restrooms are open, why can't the showers be open? The price of $50 per night for no water and no electric is plain crazy.

Very nice area due to fact spots give you room to be a little separate from neighbor. The few trees are nice and you can move tables around if needed more shade from Ramada. The view of lake is VERY nice especially sunrises and sunsets.

We purchased a double site but got assigned a single site. So we paid double for half the space. Two camp hosts told us we needed to relocate two of our vehicles or the entire camp. We had 13 people and all of the vehicles and equipment that comes with that. However, there we’re no vacant double sites. We had to move our vehicles to another site. Not a good experience at all.

Cost per night is more than state park that has showers, full hookups, electric, etc. (e.g. Alamo Lake). Having a campground with electric would help but fully functional showers would have been nice. Otherwise if no upgrades then suggest price should be slightly lower than one with full hookups. Also, our group really wanted a group campground (e.g. Grapevine) but they've been closed for over a year it seems with unknown plan when to reopen. Is it being fixed? Every park should have reservable group site option if they have room for it. I did like Coyote Loop at Windy Hill had it's own boat launch, and that sites were reservable although reservation fee was pretty steep.

the site was very clean and the host friendly

There was so many stickers. We had stickers everywhere and in everything. I could not put my dog down. The bathrooms were dirty. Couldnt access showers. The ground would not hold our tent steaks. Bent them putting them in and then they would pop out. Then we couldnt get down to the water to swim or fish. All gates were shut. You were not allowed to fish or swam off docks. Couldnt swim or fish at boat ramps. It really did suck. We paid high dollar to reserve a double space. I could of done something else with my money.

No water or hose bibs, no showers, locked until further notice, now it’s been over one year. Dumbest idea yet. Only once a week toilet paper and a filthy toilet. Plus you have to have reservations and yet several campgrounds are closed and locked.

Excellent accommodations. Not to primitive but has everything you need for comfortable tent camping.

Several of the water supply taps need to be fixed.
