Apache Trout Campground is a well-maintained, beautiful location with friendly and helpful hosts, making it a favorite for annual trips among many campers. The facilities, including clean bathrooms and the proximity to Big Lake, enhance the camping experience, while the spacious group sites cater well to families and friends. Some minor inconveniences, such as locked showers at night and occasional noise from neighboring campers, have been noted, but overall, visitors appreciate the serene environment and excellent service.

Clean and beautiful campgrounds, well spaces apart. The layout made it very easy to park the RV. I appreciated the privacy of the bathrooms using the single rooms with locking doors. It would be nice to have hand soap at the sinks to wash hands.

I was disappointed in the lack of gravel/Rock that was in the campsite and road, It was so dusty, they need to do some maintenance on the campsites since they now have raised some of the rates

This is a really great camp site. Beautiful lake and relatively private, wooded sites. The camp site staff were really helpful and the bathroom and shower facilities are the cleanest I've probably ever experienced. The only negative is the effects of the climate change. Many trees are dead and many others are dying. Dozens of dead trees lie rotting near the sites. Some areas were clear cut and replanted with saplings. It's tragic and depressing. But, at least we got to enjoy cheap, filthy, energy for 50 years since discovering their devastating effects, so it's all worth it, right? Wrong, the science now predicts there will be essentially no snow in the western US in 35 to 50 years. This past winter produced the lowest snow pack on record. Consider the consequences of that.... No water, no trees, no electricity, huge forest fires, extinction of species, mass migration, etc. Yet, glancing at the camp sites around us revealed one enormous gas guzzling monster truck after another. What irony... Nobody would camp there and dump all their garbage on the ground, but we seem to have no hesitation camping there and dumping all our emissions in the air where they will remain for 100 years. So in conclusion, If you want to enjoy this amazing camp site, I suggest you do so soon. It won't be worth visiting for much longer. 😞

the site was very uneven and had to raise the tongue of the trailer over 3 ft high to make the trailer level.

Camp site 56 is a great spot with full hook-ups and close to the restroom and shower. The camp hosts were awesome. Very orderly and clean camping location. A big THANK YOU to camp host "Pat" for saving our trip by fixing a catastrophic water supply leak under our camper's kitchen sink. He gladly came over with all the needed parts and did the work in 15 minutes. He would not accept any compensation for an outstanding job. Truely saved our trip!

Love it here. Camp hosts are so friendly.
Plenty of back roads for scenic drives. Go in to Alpine and eat at Bear Wallow or the Grill cafe. Drop in to the Sipes Wildlife Preserve. The old ranch house is a museum and enjoy the hummingbirds from the front porch. Nice grassy area for a picnic lunch.

Location was great. Wish the sites were cleaned up of old tree debris better to make for less work before setting up camp. The cam hosts are the best we’ve ever had!!! We will go back just because of them!
