Excellent experience. Although group campsite area shut down, the rest were open. Nice, large sites with great tables and fire rings. Bathrooms clean but showers shut down due to Covid concerns. Hosts very welcoming.

We really enjoyed our stay. The area is absolutely beautiful and we saw quite a bit of wildlife while at our campsite. The campground is well maintained and we plan to return.

Nice campsite! Covid restrictions were in place making it a little different as far as facilities but a really good experience!

Camp hosts are very friendly and professional. Campsites are very nice. We stay there more than once per year.

Despite the fact that the camp hosts were hampered by lack of protection by Law Enforcement, they were able to keep things under control by displaying a professional yet firm customer service attitude. The sites and service areas were spotless. Sadly, they said they would not be coming back the following year (2021) due to lack of support and communication from their management.

We understand that parks struggle thru West US' drought but Apache Trout is grossly mismanaged. Speed limits to curb & minimize the dusty park roads were totally ignored, especially by Park Hosts. We even complained to the Hosts manning the front gate, however, they continued to speed thru the park themselves creating clouds of dust & dirt. Guests sped past Hosts & nothing was said. The speeding & dusty roads culminated into being unable to sit outside at all and keeping our RV windows shut the entire time. We camp the U.S. & rarely experienced disappointment & disgust to this extent. We will NEVER NEVER return to Apache Trout CG & will spread the word to our friends and online blogs. Too bad!

Campsites are clean and fairly spacious. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. The scenery was beautiful.

From Pinetop, Arizona, take Highway 260 east 25 miles to Highway 273 south. Follow Highway 273 south 19 miles to Forest Road 8115 (Big Lake Entrance). Turn right and travel 3 miles.
Apache Trout Campground is accessible via Highway 260, which is approximately 25 miles to the west, and Highway 273, which is about 19 miles to the south.

28 mi drive to downtown Springerville (about 44 min)
Policies & Rules
General
- Standard Single Family sites: Recreation Use Fee allows ONE camping unit ONLY. Double and Group sites: Refer to Specific Site # for capacity limits.
- FIRST COME FIRST SERVE sites must be booked in person. DO NOT call to determine availability, as they are only available on-site.
- Extra Vehicles: Cannot be paid for in advance - upon arrival coordinate with the host for payment and where to park.
- campers are not considered a "no-show" until 24 hours after arrival date check in time. Our policy is that your site will not be released before that.
- Opening and closing dates are weather permitting, please call 928-537-8888 for more information.
- Bears frequent the area; please obey all food storage rules and regulations. Check with your host for details.
