Backland in Williams, AZ was next level. Unreal views, killer vibes, and the kind of peace you can’t fake. Waking up surrounded by pines, crisp mountain air, and total quiet was exactly what we needed. The setup is dialed, the atmosphere is pure adventure-meets-luxury, and the location is perfect for unplugging while still feeling like you’re somewhere special. If you’re into outdoors, stargazing, and just doing life a little louder and freer—Backland absolutely delivers. 10/10 would send it again.

A 10 mile private dirt road will take you to a small collection of large and luxurious glamping tents. The privacy of the site and attentiveness of the staff will make you feel like you are a trillionaire on your private planet. A parking spot is provided in front of each tent with additional parking in front of the main building as well as EV charging. Free breakfast consist of pastries, fruit, cereal, crepes, and eggs. Lunch wraps or sandwiches are available for purchase the day prior. Dinner is available through reservations and although they are short staffed, service is quick and food is delicious and fairly elevated. There are many communal activities in the lobby such as yoga mats, fishing rods, games, and smores rods. Kayaks and life jackets are available outside for boating around the lake. There is also tetherball, volleyball, and cornhole making this resort the perfect place to stay with no shortage of things to do. The dirt and gravel roads are perfect for runs as there is no traffic. The staff lives close so there is always someone available to assist with any issues. Each tent is accessed and secured by a personal code. I honestly have no complaints other than the occasional airplane flying by and ruining the serenity of the surrounding nature & (just a suggestion) it would be a great bonus to have communal bikes available for biking down the dirt roads through the forest. Backlands is now my go-to spot to get away from the city and recharge my battery. 10/10

Our Christmas stay at Backland Resort was absolutely magical. The hospitality here is on another level—the staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, even remembering our names and personal interests throughout our stay.
The mindfulness of the team really blew us away; they surprised us with a decorated Christmas tree in our tent for the holiday, which was such a thoughtful touch that made our Christmas Eve feel so special.
The location is perfect for outdoor lovers. You’re right on the doorstep of the Kaibab National Forest with amazing hiking and biking trails. We also loved how close we were to Sycamore Falls, Bearizona, and the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams.
If you want luxury, adventure, and a team that truly cares about your experience, stay here. We can’t wait to come back!

We had the privilege of staying at this amazing luxury camping resort under a vast sky of millions of stars. Upon entry we were welcomed by a herd of Elk! The property was so fun to explore and every need was intentionally thought through to make your experience that much more memorable. You felt at peace and all concerns, worries and preoccupations dissolved away. The Backland staff really thought through every detail and anticipated every need!

For dinner we were spoiled with a delicious meal by a French trained culinary chef named Chad! Despite being in a remote place what a luxury to have what felt like our own private chef. What a special experience!

Every staff we encountered was kind, friendly and greeted us with a warm smile.

The buildings are so beautiful which matches the beauty of the surrounding landscape and property. This place is truly a gem. I was sad to leave and anticipate when I get to return. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay at Backland! It is really in the middle of nowhere (but 1.5 hrs to Grand Canyon and 1.5 to Sedona) so the stars are really out of this world :). The glamping tents are very private and go for the one with the star-gazing window. It was so lovely to lie in bed at night and watch for shooting stars.
The staff were all super helpful. We stayed 3 nights so had two full days there and Chase recommended we go to Sedona on the 2nd day (which we had never heard of :) ). We went moutain biking there and enjoyed it more than the Grand Canyon so he really made our trip :). He made a list of things of interest in both places which we really appreciated!
We found the food at the restaurant really good (BUT HUGE portions) and the prices reasonable considering they have a captive audience. We really looked forward to the breakfast too.
The only thing I found disconcerting is the lack of enviro-friendly practices....they have amazing water use reduction practices in place in the tents. I understand their use of palm plates to reduce water consumption, but single use jams, peanut butters, etc seems like such plastic waste. And food waste with the massive portions. It felt weird to create so much garbage with every meal. Although they had a recycle bin, it wasn't clear exactly what could be put into it. A little thing but the coffee was watery :). There is no kayaking --- the pond (?) at the resort is very shallow.
Apart from that thought we had an AMAZING experience there. Highly, highly recommened it.
