What Guests Are Saying

Kaibab Lake Sites and Group Areas is a well-maintained campground, offering spacious sites surrounded by beautiful trees and wildlife, including squirrels and birds. Visitors appreciate the clean bathrooms, friendly hosts, and proximity to amenities in nearby Williams. However, the lake is currently very low, which has disappointed some campers, and noise from nearby roads can be an issue for tent campers.

The water on site is drinking water only so make sure you bring your own. No lights in outhouse facility. If you are prepared for this it won’t be an issue. The traffic from the highway is suprisingly loud in such a beautiful place. The trail around the lake is beautiful but no swimming in the lake. We enjoyed our stay.

Love the area. Camp sites are very clean and a reasonable distance from others. The biggest problem is finding the camp site. The directions are terrible and the right road to take is difficult. This last trip we had a group site. We followed the signs for group and got dead ended at a gait and it was difficult to get turned around. We had other people following us so that made it even harder. After two tries finally found a camp host that gave us directions. Was not in what was called a group area but in the E area. The camp host was very pleasant and helpful and guided us right to the site. This happened the first trip we made but wasn't quite as difficult as it was a single site. This is my only complaint. Everything else was great.

Very clean, well maintained. Hosts are pleasant and active (I actually saw them using an electric blower to prepare a site for incoming visitors; that's a first for me). Cell service can be very iffy but Williams is just five miles away (shopping, camping equipment, bars, restaurants, and excellent free Wi-Fi at McDonalds). Grand Canyon is less than an hour away on a pretty and easy drive. Sites spread out nicely, though unless you are starved for company we'd recommend sites on the perimeters of the campgrounds. Lots of shade in every site, though you'll always have to shift around during the day if you didn't bring a pop-up shelter. Restrooms are well maintained though no lights or places to wash up. Seemed to be a favorite for RVers, though we were tent camping. Lake is fine, though you'd have a better time fishing with a small boat. We saw a bald eagle, ospreys, and many turkey vultures in Sep. 2021. Sole drawback is the proximity to AZ 64 with heavy traffic to the Grand Canyon in the morning and from the park an hour or two after sunset. You get used to it after a while but some people might be less than happy. Trains along I-40 are frequent, including in the middle of the night, but the sound to me is sort of soothing and reminiscent of a long ago era. Given the plusses (proximity to a nice little town with all the amenities and one of the world's most magnificent sights as well as the lovely setting among the Ponderosa Pines), the motor vehicle and train noise shouldn't be a concern.

Recommended.

Campsite 58 was backwards. I did not like the fact the my door had to face the street and the picnic bench and trees were behind our trailer.
