I recently stayed at Spring Valley Cabin/Bunkhouse and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience. The cabin was infested with mice, and we even encountered a rat the size of a guinea pig that came through the kitchen cabinets during the night. Mice were also entering through the kitchen door. This was not an isolated incident, as previous guests had also mentioned similar issues in the guestbook. Some stating they caught 4 mice in one day.
This is particularly disheartening because we had stayed at this cabin multiple times before COVID-19 and never had any problems. The view from the cabin is absolutely breathtaking, which makes the current state of the cabin even more of a shame.
We had booked a total of three nights but were unable to sleep due to the rodent infestation and left as soon as the sun was out the next day. Additionally, we were unable to use the bunkhouse due to no response from the number provided. Other reviews also mentioned that the bunkhouse had a potent urine smell from rodents, therefore we probably would not have used it either way.
The health concerns posed by the rodent infestation are overwhelming and unacceptable. I have always booked through Recreation.gov and have never encountered such issues at any other cabins. I hope the management takes immediate action to address this problem, as it has the potential to ruin what could be a wonderful experience.

Great visit. Cabin was much cleaner this time (compared to mid summer) and it seems that much has been done to control the mouse/ground squirrel population. Cell signal seemed to be better, could fairly reliably txt. Was happy to see the flyswatter I left was still there; it belongs to the cabin now.

As always, we had a great time. The cabin is in one of the most beautiful locations on the forest. It is fairly well stocked with most of what you might need. Great for group activities.

Love the location of this cabin. Middle of nowhere with roads my Corolla can handle with no issues. Elk almost daily, the occaisonal bear, tons of chipmunks for the little ones to enjoy. Just wish the futons were newer.

From Flagstaff, follow Interstate 40 west for about 30 miles and take exit 178 at Parks. Proceed north one-tenth of a mile and turn left onto Old Route 66 for about a half-mile. Then turn right at the Old Parks Store onto Spring Valley Road/County Road 141 and continue to the intersection of Forest Road 76, just past milepost 8 (pavement ends just before reaching milepost 6). Look for the Spring Valley Cabin sign. Turn left on Forest Road 76, and proceed less than a mile. The cabin will be on the left.
From Williams, travel east on Interstate 40 for about 14 miles and take exit 178 at Parks. Follow the directions above to the cabin.
The campground is accessible via Interstate 40, with exit 178 at Parks located approximately 14 miles east from Williams and 30 miles west from Flagstaff.
Elevation: 2258 feet

Policies & Rules
General
- The cabin and bunkhouse are rented seperately. The Bunkhouse is required for groups made up of eleven or more people, and cannot be reserved on its own.
- Fires are allowed only in the wood stove, and designated outdoor grills or fire pit. Outdoor fires are subject to Kaibab National Forest fire restrictions. Firewood is supplied during the wintertime and not during the summer.
- Weather in this high elevation area spans across all four seasons of the year. Guests should check weather and road conditions prior to their visit.
- Cabins are cleaned once a week. Please leave the cabin in perfect order for use by following renters.
- Smoking and pets not allowed inside the cabin or bunkhouse
- Discharging of firearms within a quarter-mile of the cabin or any residence is prohibited
