What Guests Are Saying
Shouse Ford offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience with friendly rangers and clean facilities, making it a favorite destination for many visitors. While some campers noted issues such as lack of cell service, maintenance concerns, and the condition of tent pads, the overall ambiance and spaciousness of the campground contributed to enjoyable stays. Recommendations for improvements include adding water hookups at campsites and enhancing ground maintenance, but many still plan to return for future visits.

Definitely need some upgrades. Camper pads are very narrow and you have to be very selective if you have slide outs due to all of the pine trees close to pads. Also needs water hook up

Great place to stay! This was our second year spending spring break with our family here and we plan to be back next year!

No water service makes camping difficult. I didn't notice that the campsite did not provide water before I made my reservations. Won't be coming back until water is available at each campsite.

It was great, the bathrooms were kept clean and it was very peaceful. The only thing that could have made it better was the lake was so low we had to keep trailering the boat every day to fish.

Site was clean. Level tent spot. Electric box placement was ideal. The shore was about 100 feet from our site. Unfortunately we had about 6 people travel through our site to get to the water where their trotlines were. We came for privacy and peace and quiet. Not random people literally walking straight through our site. They had parked their boat on the shoreline directly between our site and the water. With the boat ramp being so close, hopefully they will post signs and Enforce them. Also, keep in mind that there are no trash bins at the site, not a big deal, but if you don’t bring your trash to the dumpster before you go to sleep expect raccoons to visit and tear through it.

We stayed here over the holiday weekend (Labor Day). Every campsite was full and so many boats on the water! But, we felt safe! Every one was very respectful with social distancing. Never anyone in the restroom when we were. Sites were large. We fit two big tents. Lots of families and pets. Zero cell servir and out in the middle of nowhere, as camping should be!

Very peaceful property. Unfortunately there is no water at the individual campgrounds so you must make accommodations for this aspect.
Showers and restrooms were very clean. The property was in desperate need of mowing and clearing of some of the trees at the shoreline. It was beginning to look over grown.
Never met the camp host. Office at the entrance was not open for business under the excuse of Covid-19.
Overall an enjoyable experience.
